Coach Nate was inspired by Karate Kids, 3 Ninjas, and every Jackie Chan movie during his childhood. He found Shotokan Karate first and eventually Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
His first BJJ coach was Jay Jack from The Academy in Portland, Maine. Jay emphasized the importance of systemized training from day one and Nate has carried that mindset into his practice and teaching ever since. After receiving his blue and purple belt from Jay, he moved to Massachusetts and began training with Travis Stevens – a three-time olympian and olympic silver medalist. He’s also known for having the quickest ascent to jiu-jitsu black belt (about 18 months of training).
With such a pedigree, Nate knows how to teach and push students to learn a complete fighting system: standup, striking, takedowns, pins, escapes, and submissions.
